Samsung Messages App โ€“ Required Configuration for Test Validation

To ensure SMS and MMS features function correctly during testing, configure the Samsung Messages app as follows:


๐Ÿ“ฉ Enable MMS Auto Download (Normal + Roaming)

  1. Open the Samsung Messages app.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) โž” Settings โž” Multimedia messages.
  3. Enable both of the following: - Auto retrieve โ€“ ON
    - Roaming auto retrieve โ€“ ON

๐Ÿ•’ Set Time Format to 24-Hour

โš ๏ธ Although this setting is system-level, it's critical for message timestamp consistency within the app.

  1. Open the Samsung Messages app.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) โž” Settings โž” Check for Date & Time Format (if available).
    - If available, set it to 24-hour format.
    - If not visible, set this under: Device Settings โž” General management โž” Date and time โž” Use 24-hour format โ€“ ON.

๐Ÿ’ฌ Disable RCS / Chat Features (If Available)

Some Samsung devices support RCS (Rich Communication Services) via the Samsung Messages app. This must be disabled for compatibility with basic SMS/MMS testing.

To disable RCS:

  1. Open the Samsung Messages app.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (โ‹ฎ) โž” Settings โž” Chat settings.
  3. If Chat features is visible: - Toggle Chat features โ†’ OFF. - Ensure Default messaging type is SMS/MMS (not Chat).

๐Ÿ” If the Chat settings menu does not exist, RCS is not active on the deviceโ€”no further action is needed.
